The aim of the five projects summarized in research area A was to get a better understanding of the immune mechanisms controlling the development of experimental allergic asthma and food allergy.

For this purpose, the projects of the first generation investigated the interplay of DCs cells with T cells (A1, A2), of B and T cells with a particular emphasis on IL-10 (A3) and differentially glycosylated antibodies (A4) and mast cells (MC), epithelial cells and neutrophils (A5).
